Since the very start of my teaching career, I have been fascinated by seeing how learners make their thinking visible in card based "mystery" activities. I have written at length about this before, but I recently watched a movie with my Y11 French students called "Welcome" by Philippe Lioret and I was inspired to write a new mystery in French as an introduction to the ideas in the film (unfortunately about two weeks too late for my Year 11s!) I highly recommend that you watch this film as it tackles very up-to-date ideas around immigration, refugees and the events of recent years in Calais.
